I have managed to complete a majority of the facts in my applications (birthdate, GPA, extracurriculars, etc), and am working on the essays. Fortunately, only a few schools ask the dreaded "Why do you want to go here?" question. Unfortunately, my top choice school asks this question, so it's been a bit of a hassle for me, thinking up a legitimate reason.

What do you guys write about? Do you write about your fantastic visit, or your intense interview? What if you don't have these experiences under your belt? How do you convey to the admissions committee your reasoning for choosing their school?

A couple questions to ask yourself:

Does this college offer a special major or academic emphasis that interests me?

Does this college’s location offer a special attraction?

Was there something about the tour that struck me?

You can also look at student review sites such as u n i g o and college pr o wler.com to read about what students like and dislike about the college to give you some ideas (and to help refine your own interests in various colleges).

Ooh the majors question and location will definitely help. And looking at other sites seems like a good idea too. Thanks!

Well WHY do you want to go there? To challenge yourself, or maybe to meet others with the same interests as you?
