Why do you want to make the world a better place?

<p>I'm not sure why I want to anymore. Previously, I thought in doing so I would make the surrounding world more enjoyable to me. But why not just make a bunch of money and exclude yourself from the atrocities of the rest of the world? Why should I feel guilt if all I care about is my own happiness (when it comes down to it)? I don't care about the future, I'll be dead. Social, political, and environmental problems that arise can be solved with money, and those that can't (global warming, for ex), aren't very pressing. The only benefit would be social praise, but that's not crucial to my happiness. It seems only very drastic reform in public values would make the world more enjoyable.</p>

<p>If you do then I’ll have reason to make the world a better place, and will do so, making the world better for you as well, which would be beneficial to you if you have such a reason. :)</p>
