Why does USC update statuses? I'm confused.

What does that mean? Is it better if ur status is updated? I'm so confused on this. My status says that it was last updated on 3/6. Is that good?

i have no idea...i wish i knew...my status was updated 3/6, 3/9, 3/26...i have no idea..

Why does USC update statuses?

Short answer:
We have no idea

A lot of people will try and tell you otherwise but most of the time we're just reading tea leaves and making predictions. It's kind of primal in a way, we use knowledge from the past and trends and other things to make up whatever theory will be in style at any point. However it seems statuses can mean different things at different times. A lot of the adcons always say that the statuses don't mean anything but they also say a lot of things that aren't necessarily true.

USC does not alert its students online so anything you see in the statuses is a quirky side effect of their weird computer system. There are many who will swear by it, and they will have proof that it works a certain way but really from what I've seen in the last couple of months, there is no real guarantee except that admissions package in your mailbox.

USC seems to want to hold on to that tradition of getting that package in the mail and being all excited (or utterly bummed out). They are kind of screwing with the system by making all this cryptic information available online. Most other kids at a lot of private schools are just forced to wait for their packages without any warning. Maybe USC should take note and deal with it that way or just straight up tell us online because this in between method isn't working out.

so is having your status updated good then, i guess?
