@fowlerchloe8 thank you for clarifying. Most of the worried posters are EA applicants who are still waiting on a decision. They will get notified by 1/31.
To answer your question, you are likely still in the clear unless your stats are weak for CLA - if the latter your application might be on the backburner until they review all new RD applications and figure out who is getting deferred. They certainly have admitted some strong RD applications already for some of the colleges but no way are they finished with the RD cycle yet. Some 12/31 apps probably haven’t even been reviewed yet.
@JBStillFlying my stats aren’t the best for CLA (ACT wise), but I have lengthy ec’s and leadership, and pretty strong rec letters. So hoping for the best, UMN is the only school that I haven’t heard from yet.
@fowlerchloe8 - they seem to be putting more weight on grades and coursework than test scores this year, but that’s just an impression some of us have. EC’s are secondary factors but they could help propel an applicant into the green zone so you never know. Good luck to you!
2019gradclass, I believe the deferred action simply means that UMTC wanted to see how many other RD applicants might have stronger credentials. Also, given that many who have been accepted will not attend thus opening up spots. It also gives UMTC a chance to see your 1st semester senior year HS grades. What are your stats, and what major did you apply for?
i still also haven’t had any updates either, there’s also bad weather here in MN and I saw on their website that they have less staff so I wonder if that would delay anything else?
That’s a good point. The U is closed through tomorrow for sure. It’s almost unheard of for the U to have weather related closings let alone 2 days in a row. So if you’re trying to e-mail/call or waiting to hear back, be patient the next few days. Good luck to all!
Ditto what Musak is saying. They might delay a day or so due to weather. Just speculation but it’s a possibility. Give them a call and see if that’s the case.
Today her portal updated to this. Not promising.
