Why is acceptance of Jesus the ticket to heaven?

^Bump!

10char.

That never gets old, IMO.

It’s an admission of your imperfections. It’s like you’re humbling yourself before God, realizing your own insignificance.

I’m not Christian, but that’s the impression I get.

Pre-modona? Seriously? Were you just trying to make a bad pun out of prima donna or something? It sounds like you don’t even know what that means, based on the context…

Clearly I’m going to Heaven.

Jesus called my cell yesterday and he asked about whether I would like to donate to the Salvation Army.
I didn’t know his last name was “Valmirez” though.

Aretha Franklin was a pre-Madonna…

Or is that a reference to Madonna?

Well, I’m not up on my bible stuff but I thought that mary chick was the madonna.

^Lol, really? I never knew that
I think this is now the 7th thing I’ve learned from CC. Should write these down someplace

IRT the OP:
To put it simply, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

It’s important to accept Him as our savior because nobody can be perfect like him. People you may call “good” still sin. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” (Romans 3:23) Since God is perfect, sinners can’t get into Heaven just through good works or deeds.
littlemikey4 stated it well: “the wages of sin is death.” Instead of us dying, Jesus died on the cross in place of us to pay for our sins. Thus if we accept Him as our savior, we can have eternal life.

So to answer your question, nobody "deserve"s a place in Heaven. We can really only go to Heaven through God’s grace (Jesus Christ), by accepting Him so that we become saved and forgiven.

Also, a quick google of “jesus is the way” found this site:
[Is Jesus the only way to Heaven?](Is Jesus the only way to Heaven? | GotQuestions.org)
Take a look at it.

Overall, Salvation is only the first step in Christianity. God loves us, and we can have a personal relationship with Jesus.

Well said, XRC.

On that note, who’s ready for a non-religious POOL PARTY? O_o

Haha. I’m ready for any pool party lol. My pool’s still all disgusting and cloudy. Ah well.

Erm, and I’d always thought defending an argument with the conclusion you’re trying to prove true wasn’t very…reasonable? lol

I don’t think this is a very hard concept. It’s all covered by the definition of an organized religion.

Christianity is a religion. All religions require adherence to the faith, which includes worship of specific god(s) and veneration of certain prophets and other religious figures to obtain the reward. In Christianity this is heaven/theosis. In Hinduism, this is moksha. Et cetera.

CCism follows this trend as well, it seems. My reading of old threads has shown me the way, and I wish to be baptized in a CCist ceremony if possible

In response to the OP, different groups take differnt views of this issue, but here’s mine:

It’s more important to accept Jesus than to live a “good” life because by the standards of “goodness” NOBODY is worthy of heaven. The first step in Christianity is to realize this: that there is absolutly no way you are going to be saved by your own merit. Salvation is a gift that we don’t deserve, AKA grace. Since nobody can earn the gift, you can only accept it.
