So many Brown VS Dartmouth posts. Why are these two always compared with each other? Why not Brown VS Cornell, Dartmouth VS Penn, and so on?

I think they in some ways cater to similar people and the schools are also more similar than they appear on the surface. Not everyone of course, but I think 40% of the student body at both schools would be very happy at either place.

both schools are similar in size and selectivity

both schools are in new england

when it comes down to it (as controversial as it is to say), most ivy leaguers consider brown, dartmouth, and columbia to be more prestigious than penn & cornell. as a disclaimer, prestige among students is usually based on perceived difficulty of getting in--not specific academic departments

Hahaha.... Such post would get you into trouble with the Cornell board...

Brown doesn't seem very much like Dartmouth to me at all. I would never consider applying to Dartmouth, for starters... :o

(Dartmouth is nice, just not for me! Don't hate.)

from what I've gathered, Brown and Dartmouth are very focused on their undergrad compared to the other Ivy Leagues :x

I felt most comfortable at Brown and Dartmouth. Both schools seemed like they had laid back and happy students, and both campuses were comfortable and safe.

I agree with GHBrown08. Brown and Dartmouth are actually the only Ivies on my list right now; none of the others really appealed to me.

according to this recent new york times article, of those who are admitted to both dartmouth and brown, 61% pick brown (39% pick dartmouth)
