Why is Duke's Online Checklist so Slow?

About to call them now about it. Have not been contacted for interview yet… whole app is not complete yet. Now school is closed here for 2 days and we are not sure how this will play out in terms of the deadline… praying we don’t lose internet…

By the way, a few schools are extending their ED deadlines due to the storm - UPenn, Columbia, and even Case Western in Ohio.

OK. Well, apparently Duke is NOT a school that will be extending their deadline… Also, apparently it just takes a long time for the info to actually get downloaded into a student’s file, but the fact that we got the link to set up student files means that they did in fact receive the information. Everything goes by the time stamp on the materials received.

@my3gr8boyz, Duke has in fact extended their deadline to Sunday 11/4. It’s been on their website since yesterday.

I just called Duke and they said they have everything for my application. they do not know why it’s not showing up as incomplete on my side. Do you think I should inquire about this further?

I am panicking now as Duke still hasn’t even sent me an email to create a checklist account. How much time did it take to receive an email from Duke after you guys sent the apps?

@LosAngelesMom - yeah, I must’ve spoken to the one unfriendly and unknowledgeable person in admissions. She simply said, when I mentioned that other schools were extending deadlines, “No. We are not extending it.” I didn’t think to check the website after she told me that… But then the next day I called again, more concerned because it was becoming clear that school was going to be closed for a long time and the LOR’s might not be able to get in in time. That person I spoke with was friendly and told me of the Nov. 4th deadline. And since then, I’ve even gotten the impression from a third person in admissions that they are playing it by ear, basing it on where you live and trying to be flexible and just asking us to get it in as soon as possible. Hopefully that will be Monday. A Sunday deadline seems a bit odd, especially when schools are involved in sending out parts…

As to the question about how long it takes for the checklist account, that came up really fast for us. Son submitted supplement on Oct 18th and was invited to create the Duke acct on the 19th. It took a long time for the info on it to be correct, but it seems to be up to date now. DarkFlame, when did you send in your supplement/app? I actually got an immediate e-mail right after we submitted each part, saying it was received.
