Why is my GPA a 5.4?? Help

I'm about to be a senior in high school and I moved to a New school towards the end of my junior year

At This new school my gpa is 5.4 weighted and my class rank is like 300 out of 780
I am soo confused why did my rank go down and why do I have a 5.4 gpa what does that turn to unweighted Is it bad I have a lot of AP/Honors..,

My gpa and class rank at my old school were 3.8 weighted 3.2 punweighted rank 213 out of 883

it means your new school weights their classes differently.

yeah they just weigh differently at that school. And its impossible to know your unweighted grade when a) we don’t know how many “a lot of AP/honors” is and b) we don’t know how the school weights.

It might be on a 6.0 scale(for weighted GPA). Which means that for AP/IB classes: A=6, B=4.5, C=3, D=1.5, F=0. For honors/pre-IB/AP: A= 4.5, B= 3.25, C=2.175 and Ds and Fs are 1s and 0s. Regular classes follow the 4.0 scale.

There also schools that use a 8.0 scale. I’m not sure how that works though.

Your new school weights GPA differently. It might not grade on a finite scale, but adds a certain amount to your weighted GPA for each honors or AP/IB/dual enrollment class you take.

Oh I took honors Latin
ap English
ap us history

I heard a 5.4 unweighted was 3.8 is this a lie?
