Why is OSU ranked so low in roi?

@Adwaya

Engineering career services publishes data on outcomes for each major. This will be a lot more applicable to you, and as I recall, everything is very good for ECE majors.

@Adwaya

Here’s the data from Payscale:

Software engineer makes an average of around 75,000 from OSU. On the other hand, OSU is ranked 87th in Best Schools For Engineering Majors by Salary Potential.

Some food for thought: for the most part, return on investment isnt very correlated with the selectivity of schools, and that is most prominent in engineering. So your ROI from OSU shouldn’t be too different from that of a more selective college. As a corollary to that, the grades you get at school have a very large impact on salary potential.

Just something to think about

Well, how much are you planning to spend as an OOS student? Did you not get a scholarship? Because I would not recommend paying the full OOS price for OSU. What other offers do you have? Do you have anything for your in-state institution, if you don’t mind my asking?

@MarcusOSU : ya i got merit scholarship at OSU worth around $14200/year. Financial Aid is still under consideration though we are expecting around $5000-$10000 of that too… As I am now in Singapore, i will not be considered as in-state in any university, though I am a US Citizen. The other offers I have are the UW-Madison, Rutgers, and Purdue, all of which will turn out to be even more expensive.
