<p>It was probably the right thing to do though. Letting him go I mean. I don't like to see people critisized for making statements others would get away with, but he is an eminent scientist and in such a position some statements only make the science look bad. People already have enough of a problem with genetic research.</p>
<p>The impact on science could be enormous in another way. Scientists with controversial views will be muzzled. He should not have been fired. The proper stance toward a person with such views? Ridicule! Let's not go from burning at the stake to beheadings, pillory, exile, fired. In the 21st century, debate and be converted or refute and ridicule.</p>

<p>what do you mean the thread just stopped? In any case, ashwin, get off these blogs, read some literature, this is for parents lonely when their kid is off to college or for adults longing to relive youth by giving some advice!!!</p>
<p>Or for... you know... students around the age of 17-20 discussing college admissions with the occassional adult coming into the conversation, for the purpose of, discussing college admissions.</p>
