I've always wanted to work in the DA's office, but from what I hear, people often change their minds in law school and pursue some profession that has some higher compensation (big law). I'm interested to hear why some of you guys want to go to law school? For those in law school right now, what are your aspirations post graduation?

I went to law school to escape a failing (very badly too) chemical engineering career. I just could not make any money at it. And I will tell you, I am glad I changed. Chem E is a huge waste of time.

Why was ChemE so bad for you?

that's funny you say that, my friend who's a chemE major recently talked to me about how you don't really learn anything useful in chemE...and that it's a waste of time....but I don't know if that's just b/c of our school.

I think with Chem E it is really a blend of other topics. Increasingly, it relies on electrical concepts for controls and automation work - good process control can deliver real savings. To really be a Chem E, it requires joining a large firm with a good training program (Dow, Shell, Exxon etc). I simply think there are not enough of those positions for the graduating pool.
