<p>Title says it all – currently applying for transfers and my attempts in trying to avoid dissing Baylor has came to an end since one of University of Chicago’s essay questions specifically begs ‘Please tell us why you are planning to leave (or have already left) your current college or university.’</p>
<p>I have detailed why I chose to pursue my studies at another institution in my main Common Application essay but I think this question particularly calls for why not Baylor instead of why other places?</p>

<p>the reason which would make the most sense to a non-Baylor person is the religious one… nobody would consider it “dissing” or fault an 18 yr. old for underestimating cultural or religious differences with an institution… for misreading the “fit”. It would neither be your fault, nor that of the Institution. It is neutral.</p>
<p>Or, just tell the truth … why you’re leaving Baylor. There are all sorts of ways to say things nicely, or matter-of-factly, without blame or emotion. You’ve discovered that you work best in a such-and-such environment, and that Baylor prides itself on such-and-such, which you’ve learned is not the best fit for you. If that makes sense …</p>
<p>You make it an essay about self-discovery and the idea that the place you originally chose is not the match you originally perceived, without dissing Baylor.</p>
