Why not? Brown, MIT, Stanford, Amherst and more

I really appreciate it. :)

You could potentially keep UCB and UCLA as matches to fall back on because of that extremely high SAT. All of the Ivies are unpredictable with anybody’s stats, but you are a strong candidate for them all. Good luck!

Thank you for the suggestions, BioBoy97. I never considered UCB and UCLA as matches.

Curious for other opinions, so bump.

OMG, what wouldnt I do for SATs like that ! Seriously ! How did you prepare for it ?
Looking at your SAT Scores (which are VERY strong) and your ECs, I would say you could consider UCLA your safety.

And looking at your stats , you probably have a strong chance at Brown and Columbia!
Honestly, except for the Ivies, I dont think there’s any school that’ll be a problem
All the best.

Oh and could you chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1411650-chance-indian-hypd-cornell-mit-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

UCB and UCLA are not matches because you’re OOS and admissions for OOS students at either campus is hugely competitive.

Do you need financial aid?

Your list is mostly T20 schools and then Virginia Tech. Have you considered schools that are T30 or T40?

@guyinblue: Thanks man! I didn’t really think my ECs were that strong; it’s been one of my major points of worry.

@NYU2013:
Thanks for the feedback!

The out-of-state point is a good one, I had forgotten that it would have such a significant effect.

I will very probably need financial aid.

As for the top things, I didn’t really put that in mind, it just kinda played out like that. If you’re implying I may need to reach a little lower, what is holding my application back?

Most of those schools are safeties for you. Ivies are hard for everybody, but you stand a good chance. Try to look unique in your essays.

Yeah, it seems that it’s really going to come down to the essays for me.

Promoting myself shamelessly, but could you please chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1411650-chance-indian-hypd-cornell-mit-will-chance-back-2.html</a></p>

Nothing is holding your application back; you have good chances at all of them. (But remember, UCB and UCLA, because you’re OOS, will likely offer you little in terms of FinAid.)

You may, however, want to include some lower down schools in the 30’s and 40’s. Why? You’ll (more than likely) get into them and receive good scholarships for them as well. It’s always good to have choices. If it happens that you get into your reach schools, but they are unaffordable, then what? You need to have financially viable options as well, which is why I recommend applying to some lower down schools that are likely to offer you good scholarships.

I’m always very reluctant to chance back, because it doesn’t make any sense to me. How can I judge someone on how likely they are to get into a uni if I need to ask the same question?
