<p>the essay asks 4a. For Freshman Applicants only: Describe the courses of study and the unique characteristics of the University of Pennsylvania that most interest you. Why do these interests make you a good match for Penn?</p>
<p>does the course of study mean major? if it does great if it doesn't then does it mean classes? or etc, and i just want a list of what aspect of Penn people put down for the "unique" characteristics</p>

<p>anything-- you can talk about extracurriculars too! most commonly people talk about majors and specific professors/classes</p>
<p>I took it to mean anything like academic/extracurricular. Anything besides, oh its interdisciplinary and it has good class size and good teacher ratio and oh, its architecture is nice, etc.</p>
<p>don't forget! it says "unique characteristics of Penn" as well. it could be anything! not just classes or teachers. food? haha.</p>
