'Why Smith' - short answer

Hello! I have a one-page essay for Why Smith, do you think i should paste a shortened version of this in the space provided in the online commonapp and include my longer, original version in the additional info section in the supplement? Some of you mentioned this before, but I'm not sure whether you're referring to another longer but totally different essay on Why Smith or simply a longer version of what you pasted in the space provided. Also, should I include an additional essay (not why smith) in my additional info section in the supplement? so this section will have a total of 2 essays, the original Why Smith and my additional essay. what do you think?
Also, some of you mentioned that there's an optional parents' essay. But I don't see this anywhere in the supplement. Has it been removed?
Thank you!

{so this section will have a total of 2 essays, the original Why Smith and my additional essay. what do you think?

Not a problem, the why Smith essay is important. If you need to use some more space than provided print it out. Don’t make a short book of it though.

The parents essay request isn’t on the website. Your parents will receive a personal letter offering them the option of writing one after you apply.

roadlesstraveled, what do you mean by short book? sorry, i'm not an american so some american slang may be foreign to me. do you mean don't summarise my original essay and just put sth like "My response to this question will be sent via regular mail." or "My response can be found in the Additional Information section."?
I just realised that there isn't enough space to include my additional essay (not why smith) in the additional info section. So perhaps the best way is to send both my original why smith and my additional essay via regular mail? Don't know whether this will irritate them...

{Don't know whether this will irritate them…}}

No, it won’t irritate the admission officers. It’s very important to clearly state why you want to attend Smith. A few hundred additional words is acceptable.
Many students send their app snail mail. I sent the app Fed Ex because I wanted to track it and trust Fed Ex to a greater degree than US Post

My reference to short book meant, don’t make your “why Smith” essay too long. i.e like a short book
