^YES!!! top it off with an Orange Bowl win and Stanford Sports = utterly awesome.

You can’t get a parking permit as a freshman unless you have a special situation cleared by the university. But I would definitely recommend it for your upperclassmen years.

Congrats to women’s basketball! Go Card!

^That doesn’t stop people. All you need to know is one upperclassmen and there you have it.

That said there are reasons not to have a car as a freshman. Freshman year is all about the Marguerite, Caltrain, Super Shuttle, eating at Treehouse, and waiting until dorm trips to venture out in the world.

I’m applying here SCEA next year. Leggo. Let’s bring home the bacon - err… broccoli.

This is the most awesome ‘‘Why school X?’’ thread ever!!

Completely agree! ^ Let’s bring this thread back…Stanford “Nords” 2013!

Stanford has overtaken Harvard as the nation’s #1 dream school. It raises more money now than Harvard, and represents innovation and the wave of the future.

Saw another article about this today, and posted it here before I realized it was a blog and had to delete it. Anyway, there’s a great quote in it from the campus newspaper responding to the criticism that Stanford is too tied in to Silicon Valley. What’s cool is that the quote was from an editorial written by a very smart Stanford athlete.

^I totally agree!

Arts and humanities rankings published by Times Higher Education rank Stanford #1 in the world! You can see the list from the link below:
[Top 50 arts and humanities universities - Times Higher Education](Subject Ranking 2012-13: Arts & Humanities | Times Higher Education (THE))

Definitely agree! ^^ Harvard is a great school with top-class academics and I’m not by any means saying that Stanford is better, harder to get into, etc., but Stanford DOES have a better reputation with all the cheating scandals going on at Harvard.

I also (oddly) like how if you attend Harvard, people will be shocked, amazed, and think you’re a genius. A lot of people know about Stanford, but it’s “less-exposed” in a sense, and isn’t nearly as well-known among younger generations and people in their 40’s, 50’s, etc. It’s like finding a hidden treasure.

Any thoughts about what you specifically like about Stanford?

When I visited Stanford last summer, I definitely loved its campus. After all, the campus is huge! The whole “vibe” of the campus felt just… right - the tour guides were friendly and the atmosphere was perfect. Plus, the class sizes seems just about right for me. I’ll definitely be applying to Stanford next year.

People always want what they cannot have. The low acceptance rate game is fueling the desire.

You definitely won’t be able to find a similar campus anywhere else. Best of luck next year applying!
