High School Summer College Program

I was just wondering, from others who have been through it,
1. How hard is it to get admitted?
2. In your opinion, was it worth the money?

anyone? psats? grades?

Not hard at all to get admitted, but can be hard to get good grades depending on what classes you take (they are normal stanford undergrad classes)

Yes, it was worth the $$$ for me because that's a big part of what got me in. I got very good grades in my courses and a stellar rec from one of my prof. But if you don't plan on taking advanatage of it by working your ass off, then look elsewhere.

By "not hard at all", do you mean most people, 50%, 20%??

Any other comments??

i mean like 80-90%

May be harder to get into than Vissanik knows. My daughter attended after her sophomore year and had to write a special essay to get in. My impression is that they have a limited number of spots and it's getting more competitive each year. She loved it and did very well - is applying to Stanford this year but it's probably not her first choice - she's concerned about how boring the weather is in Palo Alto, she likes a change of seasons and snow. It COSTS A FORTUNE for just two classes. The following year for one-quarter the price my daughter spent three months in Peru working in an orphanage and taking four hours of Spanish in a class of four students. She loved it and also toured around Machhu Picchu and other national parks. SO, it's worth it I guess if you don't have any alternatives but don't count on it getting you in. My daughter is still in touch with other Summer students and her impression is that a small percentage either are going to Stanford now or want to go after spending the summer there.

Hello,
I am new to College Confidential and I also had some questions about this program.
1. Is it easy to get into or not? The first poster said it was and the second said it was harder.

Are the credits earned in the program easily transferred to other colleges?
On the website it says like 3 units. Is that equal to 3 credits at most colleges?

bump, anybody?

I don't know how hard or easy it is to get into the program, but I was accepted with 32 ACT and 203 PSAT scores. I wrote a decent essay and had had a good letter of rec.
