<p>Everyone on this forum is talking about IB but not much about trading? Is this because its really hard to get trading jobs out of undergrad or because it is riskier or what?</p>
<p>It's riskier, it's based on performance, not brown nosing, pay isnt structured, depends on what product group you're based in. For example, commodities had a good year this year, but not so much for equities. Overall it's risker, skills can't be transferred. If you're placed in market making, you have to be very good to be promoted to prop trading, and if you cant make it to prop, you'll have a hard time tryin to get into a hedge fund.</p>
<p>is there anything you can study or learn to make yourself a better trader or is it all innate skill?</p>
