In high school I was in my schools accelerated math and science Georgia tech pathway. I had a 3.3 unweighted gpa and a 1940 on my sat with a 740 on my math. I also had tons of gifted classes. When I was rejected my dad convinced me to apply to a small liberal arts college in the south. I was raped there my freshman year and had no sexual experience prior. According to most religious texts I have lost my ability to have any sort of future because I am no longer chaste or abstinent and really wonder why I was rejected from this school.
Find a counselor and get help. Its worrying that you are posting anonymous posts that are indicating you are depressed. Rape is not your fault. Georgia Tech is in a dangerous part of town, so let go of it, and try to find help to move on. Talk to your pastor too, I don’t think most pastors would blame you for a rape. You can have a wonderful life, if you heal from your rape and realize that you are not a lesser person because this happened to you. Thousands of kids are rejected from Georgia Tech, for not very good reasons. Its pretty random, college admissions. We know girls and boys with ACT of 36 who were rejected from Georgia Tech. They had GPA of 4.0 unweighted. Its too bad that most students feel that college admissions is about them. Its not. Its about filling up seats at a school and its largely random.
Low GPA kept you out. And stop reading religious texts. Get counseling.
@Fewth5 I am so sorry for the trauma you have endeared. There is life after rape and counselors who specialize in helping people through this. Find someone you relate to - not all counselors are equal. Don’t be afraid when you call for an appointment to ask if your counselor has experience in helping people through the aftermath of rape (not necessary but might give you more confidence). There might be support groups in your area as well. Many helpful books have been written and you can find them in psychology and self-help sections of bookstores. You’ve been through a terrible trauma and with help and time, you can get back on track again. P.S. GT is an awesome school but you can get a good education at other schools as well. Best wishes to you.
Sorry to hear… BUT ITS NOT YOUR FAULT !!
I agree with all the others -please seek the help so you can move on and become the person you were ment to be. Work hard and you can achieve at ANY school !
