Why we can't use rulers in SAT???

I won’t use it when doing math, but I need it when reading passages. I am not good at reading and English is my second language. Without the ruler, I always skip lines when reading and can hardly focus. Ruler helps me A LOT!! I can’t live without the ruler!! But I just realized ruler is prohibited in the SAT…What can I do??? I am trying to use the pencil to help me now…but the ruler is MUCH BETTER

Apparently a ruler is considered a math aid. You can use the answer sheet and move that down line by line.

Is a blank sheet of paper allowed? It should do the same thing for you as a ruler. Practice with one before you get there.

Use a sideways pencil and learn to be flexible.

A blank sheet of paper is not allowed. I agree, use the answer sheet. Or your calculator.

Not for the reading/writing section!

Pencil or finger as a guide should work.

OP, I hate to tell you but if you have to use a ruler to read, you have bigger problems than the ACT reading. It’s not exactly practical for every day reading.

Several posters have really good suggestions: use your pencil or answer sheet. The ACT nor any standardized test is going to change its rules that have been in place 50-100 years.
