Hello all,
I know it's kinda a bit late to think about it now but I'm on my nerves.
The why Yale short-answer question is killing me.
Can somebody help me please?
I've read that universities don't really want to see information about them, but rather why is the university a good fit for the applicant. I tried to be creative but I'm feeling silly. Can somebody tell me how bad is my idea?
I want to write about my favourite magazine as a kid (W.I.T.C.H.), and that how I believed that everybody has superpowers but then adults told me it's not possible to. I still believe that each and everyone has unique superpowers that might not be flying or reading people's minds, but it just takes finding the right place to unleash them, and that I believe that Yale is my Kandrakar, the place will my superpowers come to life.

This is not my essay but just my thoughts.
I'm applying for psychology major.
Thanks in advance.

“What in particular about Yale has influenced your decision to apply?”

How do you know though? Just saying Yale is my Kandrakar does not answer the question. You still need to tie it back to Yale without it all being about Yale.

While your answer is certainly creative, it’s too generic. I could replace “Yale” with Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, MIT or any other college and the paragraph would make sense.

Thanks both!! I’ve been through it again, and I came up with a new idea, since the word limit is 500 characters including spaces, I’d need much more space to explain all of the above. I’m an expert baker, and I know how important it is just to add the right amounts of ingredients to get the perfect cake! I thought I can tie that to yale in how it contains all the right ingredients in all the right amounts to make it a perfect experience for each and everybody who gets a chance to go there , for example students with different backgrounds, cultures, the courses the college offers etc.

It’s still too generic if you could replace another school with the “Yale” in your answer. Maybe you could specify which ingredients are unique to Yale that makes it the “perfect cake.”
