What does everyone on CC go to competetive high school? no one cares.

It matters because it's a way to evaluate your GPA. For instance, a 4.0UW at an extremely noncompetitive high school is not even close to as impressive as a 4.0UW at Stuy, for example.

So you're saying since i went to private school....my gpa is more impressive that that of a bad public school? Though i am currently in stanford. How do you know if your school is competitive. At my high school 95% went on to higher learning....75% went to 4 year schools

what are you talking about tor....

Depending on what your GPA is. And it's more impressive if you go to the number 1 high school in the nation, take all AP classes, and end up with a 3.5, than if you take a similar courseload at a terrible school with major grade inflation and end up with a 4.0.

It's all in perspective.

If you are at Stanford then how come you said, in this thread, (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=160749) that you are a sophmore in HS?

Someone hacked into my account ^^ ^^

hahaha, suuuure.

tor-
um...so you weren't the one who sent me a private message, saying that you're a sophmore obsessed with college? I mean, it doesn't make much sense to ask me advice on undergrad if you're already in college.

man i thought you were in grad? little did i know.

are you someone else entirely?? you could just say the you are...because there's no way an undergrad student would mention that they'd like to get really high SAT scores...

Tor, seriously, shut up. You're such a bad liar and you just clutter these threads like crazy and produce lagging.

Hilarious...

stupid... plus the hacking thing

Can we request the admin to delete this thread?
(before tor gets shot down....)

Colleges have regional admissions officers with high school profiles so they do take a look at how competitive and rigorous your high school is and take that into consideration when making a decision.

^ I don't think that goes for UCs (right?).

Competitive and difficult mean completely different things

competitive - rank
difficult - GPA

I go to a difficult school with mediocre competition. Difficult as in my IB school has had a 100% pass rate 4 years now since its creation (very very very rare, about only a handful pull this off) and in order to maintain this pass rate the class difficulty is over the top. We have eight out of nine in my Math HL qualify for AIME, yet we can barely manage B's because of the workload.

Competition wise, however, it is mediocre at best. The public highschool that I technically go to has 450 students and I am ranked #13 with a 101 weighted, but the valedictorian, salut, and #3 have 107ish.
