Wide spread storm in the west, south, midwest

Out our bedroom window. This is why I live here!

Add us to the list of those without a winter. Iā€™d be pouting more, but our boiler went out last Saturday and we are still waiting for the part to be delivered.

But our daffodils bloomed over a month ago and the dogwoods and some magnolias are blooming. Many of the other trees are starting to bud and get leaves.

Itā€™s been hovering around 40 degrees with 24 hours straight of torrential downpours here in the Los Angeles suburbs. There are trees down everywhere, flooding, rock slides, mudslides, car accidents, trailers swept into the river, road closures. Up all the canyons weā€™ve had sustained snowfall. Itā€™s kind of a mess and a lot of weather for our area.

Make that 35 degrees and pouring rainā€¦

Just started snowingā€¦ not sticking, but rain has turned to snow flakes.

We had about a half inch of ice. We lost power, but we installed a standby generator last year, so we were fine. D also lost power, and GDā€™s daycare was closed due to no power. We watched GD at our place for a couple days, and we had a sleepover. D & GD slept here last night (SIL stayed at their house with the dog), but their power is back on this morning. We were surprised to wake up to a couple inches of powdery snow this morning ā€¦ it wasnā€™t predicted.

Itā€™s been s owing powdered sugar type snow all day here. Not much accumulation but very slick. Glad we did our errands yesterday!

11 inches of snow on Wednesday (Is that right? Time has been blurring together stuck inside). Hoping the sun today and the possible rain overnight get it off the road at least. It would be nice to leave my home again! No plowing on our street and Iā€™ve seen a couple of folks get stuck in the past two days.

just some rain and lots of wind overnight at the Jersey shore. Itā€™ll be damp and chilly (around 40) all day today. I hate this kind of weather. Give me snow or give me 60 and sunny, not this in between crud.

We got about 8 inches of snow and itā€™s still lightly snowing.

Supposed to happen again Friday into Saturday. Not happy about that as Iā€™ll be driving in the snow to get to an important thing Saturday morning at 11:30.

Expecting about 8" today, more later in the week.

On Thursday, our neighbors are returning from a six-week stay in Italy (where the wife is from). Weā€™re picking them up from the airport at 10 pm. They have not had their driveway plowed the whole time. I asked if he was going to get it plowed before their return, and the husband replied, ā€œNaa, Iā€™ll stomp thru it.ā€ OK, that will be interesting. They will have a lot of luggage. Their driveway isnā€™t short. I guess weā€™ll bring snowshoes. It does crack me up that they have a light on a timer in their house - I donā€™t think the light will fool anyone when they see a driveway that hasnā€™t been plowed for a month.

We have lots of neighbors who leave for the winter and donā€™t have their driveways plowed.

I think itā€™s easy to see if anyone breaks in since the footsteps are a dead giveaway.

Thereā€™s a Chautauqua community not far from where I am. The houses arenā€™t winterized and the roads in the entire neighborhood are closed off and not plowed. A few years ago there were thefts. How did they know? Because of the tell tale foot prints in the snows. The thief was caught shortly after. Only works in a place where the snow stays.

I have a friend who has a cabin with a long driveway. They have the system when they get there. Snowshoe in. Get a sled and attach it to the snowmobile and get your luggage out. Fire up the tractor, plow the mile driveway. Sounds like a ton of work, but they love it. Always lots of snow to play in. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I agree that nobody will break in. I donā€™t understand leaving a light on. And itā€™s odd that they arenā€™t asking us to bring snowshoes. Oh well, we will!

It was high of 48 with rain and snow in Las Vegas today. We went shopping during a break in the weather, and the snow-covered mountains made a suburban parking lot majestic.

At 4:30, in inland SD it was 43 degrees with blustery conditions and rain/hail. Never, have I EVER seen weather like this, for 3 consecutive months, in this county, EVER! The Sierras have snow everywhere. Our state is saturated as noted by massive, mature trees easily toppling over in this wind.

Enough already! My ā€œsunā€ tax has not paid off for the past 3 months! What drought??

Itā€™s been so cold in Los Angeles county. Weā€™ve had a record number of days with a high below 60. It hasnā€™t been out of the 40s recently. Today, it snowed again. Right around lunch time full snow flurries. WTH?

Haha, when I first read your post, I thought SD was South Dakota not San Diego! :joy:

Why would 43 and blustery be bad this time of year? Then I realized you were talking about Southern California! :open_mouth:

My mind totally went to South Dakota too!!

Where in the South is this storm bad? Itā€™s spring here in North Carolina. Very early for us. The pine pollen is already falling. Usually that is happening in late March or early April. It was about 70 yesterday and sunny. Rained last night but supposed to get up to 70 today too. This is a time of year when we could have an ice storm but thereā€™s hardly been any winter this year. No snow or ice. One really cold snap around Christmas but the rest has been pretty mild. Lots of flowers in bloom. I saw an azalea blooming yesterday about a month early. Itā€™s very weird but I donā€™t like cold so Iā€™m not exactly complaining but itā€™s very weird.

My daughter has a couple inches of snow at her house in Tucson, for the second time this week. Itā€™s still coming down this morning. She just asked how to get snow off her car :joy:I think we probably have snow in the foothills around Phoenix as well, but I canā€™t see the hills from where I am

I know this sounds really ā€œentitledā€, but, we have to put the pool in ā€œservice modeā€ every evening or it will run all night to prevent freezing. Temps right now: 35 degrees!! This is so unusual for San Diego County.
When I picked up my nieceā€™s kidsā€™ yesterday, they looked and felt shocked by the outdoor weather. The kids in the schools here, donā€™t have this kind of clothing and donā€™t know how to layer!
