In my freshman year I overall got a 3.6 to 3.65 GPA Unweighted. My question is if my so-so grades 9th grade will hurt me in the long term? If my GPA is weighted then it is a 4.2 GPA
It depends. They don’t do weighted, they only look at whatever you have.
A 3.6 is still pretty good though. As long as you continue to do better in your next few years in high school, you have a pretty good chance.
Just make sure to take the four core classes: English, social studies, science, and math
Then take 2 electives that you’re interested in, preferably a language class (but also classes you can do well in)
Don’t do P.E., only take that if it’s part of a graduation requirement. It’s better to be on an active team (such as swimming, martial arts, running, etc.) That way you can build experience and communication, but also to add onto your extracurricular.
Make sure to get a really good SAT score or ACT score. As well as to write a really strong personal statement.
You are at an okay starting point right now. 3.7 tends to be the average, but it depends. If you are taking like all honors or AP, or at least have a majority of your classes honors or AP, then a 3.6 with honors/AP is better than a 3.7 with minimum honors/AP.
Foreign language is required to get in to UW.
