The SAT in August repeated the test in 2017. There are speculation and rumors going around saying the colleges will discount the test score by reducing 60 points out of the score. Will colleges care about it? How would colleges view it?
That’s why they are rumors. I highly doubt this. They will either accept the scores at face value (which is my personal opinion) or they will disregard them. They are not going to recalculate scores.
I will assume (and that’s all that anybody can do) that colleges will regard the results as they would any other test date. If your score did not get cancelled, then I would not overthink it.
Thank you so much for your fast reply. Some consulting companies are trying to use this as a weapon to feed the fear and to spread their names around in Asia. It is really confusing.
To paraphrase a line from Casablanca, I am shocked—shocked—to find that a consulting company would try to separate you from your money.
Ha!
@skieurope is exactly right.
@skieurope what a quote. I will adopt it…haha…
Exactly what College Board will ultimately do is still an unknown since it is still investigating, but it does not appear like there is a risk test scores will be cancelled except possibly for those it detemines actually have an issue of having the test questions before the test was given.
As long as you have test scores that CB does not cancel, there will be no reason for any college to discount your test scores because that would require the college to improperly presume you cheated when College Board has indicated you have no such issue. Moreover, whatever scores you get on the test are not in any way affected by those who may have had the test questions before the test, even if their scores are released and are very high. That is because your test scores on the 800/1600 scale are determined by comparing you to last years test-takers (August 2017 through June 2018) and not to the ones who took the test the same time you did.
And Casablanca is still the best movie ever with many great one-liners.
There is no evidence that CB will take any action in regards to test cancellation.
