I know that B’s are not the end of the world, and that they are above average, but i really want to go to a top college. I am a sophomore and I have an 80 in honors chem right now for my quarter grade. i’m gonna try to bring it to a B plus for my semester grade. i just want to know if colleges would look past this if the rest of my grades are consistent A’s.
You’re being overly melodramatic, but no, it will not “deface” your transcript.
I see you already made a thread about this, but I will give you another answer. Most likely, a B in honors chemistry for your first quarter will not be the reason you don’t get into a top school like UPenn. Nobody is perfect and many people go to top schools without having a “perfect” transcript. If you get a B, so be it. Just do your best and don’t throw in the towel because you might not get an A for your first quarter. I got a B in chemistry first semester of my sophomore year. Like you, I was worried that it would affect my chance of getting into a selective university, but I moved on.
also I think schools look at your final year grade so you have plenty of time to raise it.
