Will a B in an AP kill my chances?

Hi guys! The first quarter isn’t over yet (2 weeks left), but I think I will get a B in AP Bio because my teacher isn’t very good. My friends and I didn’t do well on the first test and I can’t seem to get my grade back up (especially because we are super far behind and haven’t even taken a second test). I am taking another AP, and 2 honors classes. My transcript the past 2 years (I am a junior) has been very good, but I’m just so stressed out that if I get a B I won’t get into USC. I’m trying as hard as I can, and even do extra work for the class.

That alone will not be the deciding factor. There are plenty of kids at USC currently who got a B in AP courses… including my daughter now. Good luck…

Nope - they’re going to look at everything you have done and base their decision on that. My daughter had Bs in AP Calc B & C (not to mention a subpar ACT score) and was admitted to Viterbi. Make your entire application strong and showcase who YOU are, showcasing things that demonstrate how you’ll be a part of the diverse, outgoing USC campus community. They seem to really like real people who do a lot of cool things - not just the straight A perfect test score brainiacs.

Good luck and fight on!
