Will Admissions Officers Know If ECs and Leadership Positions Are Overrated?

It’s a little low that you’re hoping somebody else fails(but I totally understand :wink: ) but it seems to me that these colleges look for interesting people, not necessarily busy bodies who are “involved” in everything. If his essays and interview go well and he seems to know about these things then it’ll be tough for them to really tell. Though the Secular Students Club or whatever sticks out like a sore thumb. It’s important to have and safeguard your views but the club itself is rather unusual and not in a good way.

Why is someone else’s application any of your concern?

@WilliamSmithers‌ I agree. :)

@Nrdsb4‌ It’s not. Just wondering whether colleges do see these kids in the light that the kids think colleges see them in. I mean, they’re pretty confident they’ll get into Harvard and Stanford (almost like they’re disregarding the competitive admissions process as a whole). Wanted to confirm my belief that one can’t simply do things they think will “look good” and hopefully colleges will see through this.
