Will be grades be good enough for Loyola University Chicago

I am a Junior and really stressing about colleges and grades
I have taken 7 honors classes in the span of my 3 years in high school
i got a 27 on the ACT, retaking for a better score
I want to attend Loyola University of Chicago for Nursing and minoring in International studies/affairs

I have a 3.2 which to me is very low. Im hoping to raise to at least a 3.4 by the end of junior year. I am on the Student Council, Key Club, Model UN, Spanish Honors Society, and Environmental Club. I am a A,B,sometimes C, and 2 D's. 1 D my freshman year and the other from Sophomore. I really hope those D's dont hinder my chances
Currently my Junior year
1st quarter gpa 4.0
2nd quarter gpa 3.6
yeah, it dropped due to trig and Honors Biology 2

I am African, my father is a professor at a college in Southern Illinois. So i get a little of tuition but i dont know how far that goes for private schools like Loyola. Anyway. Im taking 4 honors classes and 1 AP class next year. Im feeling really down about college right now. Anything I can do?

Your ACT is average for Loyola, but your GPA is FAR below average; only 12% of admitted applicants have a GPA below 3.24. And I don’t think your ECs can boost your chances that significantly, especially since they’re not very unique/original/outstanding and show little leadership. I’m sorry to sound so harsh, but I just don’t want you to waste money applying to a HIGH HIGH reach school.

If your GPA raises by the end of junior year, make another thread and see how your chances improve.

Good luck with everything! :)

Loyola Chicago: Low match/Match (with a 3.4)

No! no need to be sorry for being harsh. 3.2 is not good, so I understand that. Im not sure how high I can raise it but hopefully to a 3.4 . Thank you though for answering

I disagree with Catria; 75% of admitted applicants have at least a 3.5 GPA, and like I said, 27 is the average ACT score, so I don’t see how Loyola could be a low match/match. It could be a high match, at best. (But at least you’d have a fairly decent shot at admission then! :))
