Will Brown avoid gender bias in admissions this year?

ummm that doesnt really prove anything. 2 or 3 highschools out of thousands. those top male applicants must make up such a small percentage of the 18,000+ that applied this year. i really dont see what you are getting at. as a general rule, girls just do better in high school.

In my high school experience, it seems as though girls are more diligent than males and seem to work harder.

Girls are better-behaved in school, and don't make as much noise, so they adapt better in what is generally a female-dominated environment.

Boys do better on SAT scores, however, almost across the board. Why is this so? I'm not sure. Better ask Larry Summers!

yea. all the smart boys i know in high school just dont get the same grades as smart girls because they dont study as much, dont pass stuff in on time, dont participate as much. girls are just more mature in this sense at this age. from talking to adults, i gather this gap tends to close as boys get older and enter college. not only are more girls applying, but they are probably better qualified as well. obviously i dont know for a fact, but it seems to make sense
