I don’t agree with the one above. Ivies are never so simple. they might accept you if u apply for Early Decisions. well… ur Chem grade is adequate. u could describe that as the “Insurmountable Obstacle” along with math on ur essay. if ur recs are good, essays are going to matter substantially.
ur extra curricular seems fine. they show… diversity and open-mindedness. I think you have a great chance. don’t let a B hurt you. apply to all of them and display your passion.

@j4jai127 probably something along the lines of history/law. Thank you!

You’re an exceptional student don’t get me wrong, but the mantra I’ve developed is that there’s always someone who’s better. You’re competing with a lot of high performing and really well rounded/intellectual kids and your ACT score is lower than the average Ivy league student. You have a really good resume for any other college, and if you can bring up your ACT score, you should have a fighting chance at the Ivies as well.

Chance me back please!

That’s what I am hoping (I noticed my ACT is among the 25th percentile in the ivys). That was the first time I took it without really studying , but I am hoping to bring it up! Thank you so much. You truly were helpful @j4jai127

@Peaunt123 thank you so much!! I really appreciate your honesty

Again if you want to pursue a career in law, I highly suggest you look at the statistics. The average salary for a law grad is roughly 50k. If you really want to “make it” you need to attend a top tier law school and have a really nice LSAT score for that. Honestly, if you’re seriously considering law as your endgame, you need to aim for the Top 10 law schools in the US, and perform at the top of the class in order to have a successful career (monetarily speaking). If that’s your real love and passion go ahead for it, but from family friends (one of them is a professor of law @ Columbia) , it’s a path filled with long hours and hard work.

For undergrad for law, your intended major should range from political science, history, classics, pre law, and maybe finance/accounting depending on what law you want to do. For example, a friend of mine is going to Stanford (class of 2020) as a STS major with an emphasis on bioethics. She wants to do law later on and she tailored her major to her future desires. Undergrad won’t matter as much with law school, since the LSAT and your grad school application is there to serve as your ticket it.

@j4jai127 that’s what I’ve been hearing alot from my parents and family friends. I m honestly not 100% sure what my intellectual passion may be, but I knew from APUSH that history and law interests me. I think I may apply undecided and take a variety of classes with some sort of focus on law so I can “dip my feet” into law, so to say. I know many lawyers, of whom, few would be considered above the 50K line. Thank you for the insight

Good chance at every school besides Yale and UPenn. Those are reaches, just like all Ivies. Chance back?: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1778302-chance-an-asian-yale-duke-williams.html#latest
