Will Clemson re-evaluate Merit Aid?

My student received $15k merit from Clemson and we are very grateful for that consideration. Also, applied to U of South Carolina and Alabama and our cost of attendance with merit for those schools (received $27,500 merit from Alabama and so far In-state tuition from South Carolina with more to come) is much lower. We are OOS and will not qualify for financial aid. Does Clemson re-evaluate? Have they ever offered in-state rates for OOS? All three schools have the same programs, and I know Clemson is higher ranked, but the price difference right now is significant.

Clemson’s maximum merit for OOS is not nearly as generous as Alabama and South Carolina’s. I’d expect that a request to re-evaluate would be met with a polite, “Sorry, we don’t do that.”

@paparent106 exact same situation as you with exact same schools. Well, my son only received the $7.500, but he will transfer into Clemson with 54 credits so that is why we decided to stick with Clemson. He will only have to attend for the two years. We are from NJ and he got a 1420 on the SAT missed the 10,000 by one question. He was offered a free ride to FDU Florham Park and we still past it up. Alabama was definitely his second choice. However, we think Clemson’s higher rank will pay off in the long run and the feel seemed like a better fit for him. Good Luck with your decision . Oh, and we did try and ask for a little more, but they are strictly by the numbers.

We also asked Clemson for our DD to up the merit award but they said they couldn’t. She received in-State tuition from South Carolina & 2 merit awards from Ohio State marking them both much for affordable.

No . Clemson does not negotiate merit or offer instate tuition.
