BUT if your child is going to a Profile school, and you buy or pay for a house, find out how or if the school uses primary home equity in the financial aid calculation. For schools that use primary home equity, your equity in your home will be viewed as an asset (to some degree) just like money in the bank.
Well, some do. Colleges that use Profile can have extra questions asked of each applicant. I’ve seen Profile questions that ask the make, model, year, date of purchase and purchase price for each car owned by the family.
