Will College still receive suppressed information from Common App?

My son applied rice university, and on submission PDF it says “no testing scores to report”, although he did self-report ACT/AP scores on common app. There was a line of text saying rice suppress testing scores, we think that was why no scores on the submission PDF file.

But on rice application status, it shows Rice received his AP scores, although he never send any AP scores to Rice via College board.

So question is, does suppress means college still receive the testing scores information from common app just not display it, or college doesn’t receive suppressed information at all?

Thanks much in advance.

It’s just that the pdf that is generated ( that you could print out) doesn’t list the test score you reported. It also doesn’t list any disciplinary charges for students who reported that. I think there might be one more thing it doesn’t list. I’m not sure why these things from the Common App are not shown on the pdf- perhaps there is concern that others might see them? It’s not specific to Rice.

Thank you for your information.
You think it doesn’t list them on PDF, but College still got the suppressed information?

Yes, I think the AOs will see the self-reported test scores as long as your son answered yes to the question asking if he wants his test scores to be considered as part of his app.

Your son can certainly email his AO though, to be certain.

Good luck.

In the Common App, in the part where the pdf is shown, it is explained at the bottom that 2 or 3 things are suppressed on the pdf but are transmitted to colleges as part of the application.

I suspect it’s privacy - just like SSN often isn’t printed or displayed online, even when you’re logged into a secure web site.
