So back in the spring, when it was time to sign up for classes, I decided to sign up for AP Spanish because I had already taken 1-3 and figured why not. Now, I've changed my mind and I'm planning on switching out of AP Spanish (most likely into a US History class plus one other course.. US Hist is a graduation requirement and I was going to put it off until senior year, but I thought it'd be better to just get it out of the way if I'm not doing AP Spanish).
My primary reason for wanting to drop it is because I will already have a difficult course load in addition to having marching band, which is extremely time consuming.
Dropping Spanish would give me the following schedule-
Semester 1: AP Literature (Took Lang as soph)
AP Chemistry
AP Physics C: Mechanics
Calculus III
Partial Differential Equations
US History
Semester 2: AP Literature
AP Chemistry
AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism
Introduction to Higher Mathematics
+1 undecided course (most likely going to be a non-difficult class)
I feel even without the extra AP, my schedule is overkill. I'm just hoping that colleges won't think I'm unbalanced opting out of an AP foreign language class while taking the STEM classes that I am.

If its not on your schedule they wouldn’t even know you planned on taking it…

Yes, I was more worried about appear unbalanced, since they will know that it’s offered but I declined to take it

You don’t have to take every AP offered. Colleges, even Ivies, don’t expect you to take every single AP at your school. Just do Spanish next year and I echo what @tola2015 said.

I really don’t think colleges take the time to find out what courses are offered at each school. I could take AP Spanish next year but I’m not because I already finished my 3 year requirement so I’m not and the colleges I applied to won’t care because I’m taking mostly science classes next year since I want to be a science major.

Alright, I’m not sure why I didn’t think of taking it senior year (maybe because I’ll forget a lot by then, but oh well). It’s just when scheduling for freshman and soph year I just signed up for the most advanced classes possible, so it feels weird for me to drop an AP to add a normal class, although I guess it won’t hurt…

@tola2015 My school has a general 2 year foreign language requirement, so I’ve already completed that. Also, I’m planning on double majoring in mathematics and physics, which is why my classes are STEM oriented.

Ours is 3 for the Academic Honors Diploma. Or you can take 2 years of 1 language and 2 years of another to get the diploma. But colleges won’t freak if you dont take AP Spanish
