Will colleges not care if they do not offer your extracurricular activities?

That was not a great way to phrase it. Double negative. Eek. I can't edit that though =x.

For example:

Would the University of Hawaii care if you were an outstanding skier?

Would Harvard care if you were an outstanding surfer?

I'm neither of those things, but I am quite good at another activity that cannot really be done on an urban campus. Will colleges think "Oh good she committed to something"? Or will they think "oh that's cool, but you cannot even do that here" and leave it out of their decision?

I'm talking about top 25 schools.

I'm sure they would. Or at least take it into consideration possibly?

Yes, they care. They're not necessarily looking at you replicating your EC's; just that you have a passion about something during high school. They're looking to see that you're not just a couch potato.

Agree with Chevda

My son's main "EC" was living/working on a catfish farm.

He got in EA at Stanford (no way is he going to be fish farming in Palto Alto! :-) )
