Hello! I am a junior in high school now (wow, that feels weird saying because I just finished my sophomore year a few days ago!). I have had a desire to attend a Christian university ever since I started going to a public high school, and I have been considering BIOLA University and Wheaton College. Both, I believe, are excellent Christian communities, but in some aspects, I am leaning more toward Wheaton College because I feel that their academics are as high in standard as the Christ-center. As I read the profiles of those who have been accepted into Wheaton, I get more nervous and nervous! They are such brilliant students. I have a 3.99 unweighted GPA, have taken AP biology and AP European history. Though I have not received my scores yet, I believe I got a 4 in biology and a 5 in European history. I shall be editor in chief of our school newspaper next year, am a member of our Christian club and Help Our Troops club at school. I did one year of track and field and four years of piano. I help out in the 4 and 5 year old class at my church, help out during VBS, am involved in youth group, and have gone on two recent Mexico mission trips. I help my mother out with worship for the monthly women's Spanish Bible study and also have helped out in the junior high Bible's study as a leader. I volunteer at our local hospital every weekend, and am involved in a teen summer volunteer program at another hospital that shall last three weeks. Next year, I am going to Guatemala to visit my family and hopefully help out at the orphanage nearby. I can speak Spanish; I am taking AP Chemistry, AP Spanish, AP U.S. History, AP English Language and Composition, AP English Language and Literature, AP Calculus BC, AP Physics A, AP Art History, and AP Government and Econ. I believe I can get around and 1800-1950 SAT score, but of course, I am not certain. Anyway, I believe that this is significantly less rigorous than other profiles I have seen. I was wondering, will the fact that I am Hispanic (Guatemalan American because both of my parents immigrated from Guatemala) increase my chances of being accepted? I notice that only 3.9% of Wheaton's student population is Hispanic -- about 94 students in 2000ish undergrad students. Well, it's all in God's hands; I can't help but dreaming and feeling nervous all at once! Thank you for your input!
