So in 2009 most people who are paid bi-weekly will have 27 pay periods instead of 26. We will likely be on the cusp of federal Pell grant eligibility, but I think with the extra pay period that could eliminate all hope of a Pell grant for next year. Does anyone know if they take the extra pay period into account in determining the efc?

if it shows up on your W-2 then it’s ‘in’ for 2009. Just curious, is this a pay week for you. I’m paid every other friday, but not this week. I didn’t count how many pays I get this year

They take into account whatever appears on your tax return for the year. If the pay check arrives in 2009 and is on your 2009 W2 then it is reportable on your tax return then yes it will affect your EFC.

That is discouraging but thanks for the info. Sue yes I’m getting paid this week.

well I’m paid next friday (Oct is a 3 paycheck month for me!). Did you ever notice that some unexpected expense always comes up on those 2 months with 3 pay fridays?
