will good scores on sat subject tests help my chances of getting more merit based scholarships?

i’m an international student and the colleges i’m applying to (suny, and a few other state colleges) don’t require sat subject test scores. if i take them anyways and get good scores, can i expect better merit based scholarships ? i understand applications are reviewed holistically and there are tons of other factors at play, but nevertheless i would appreciate some insight on how much weight the subject scores actually carry in regard to scholarships.

also if u guys could recommend some colleges that do value standardised tests scores and give out aid based on them, that’d be great

ps i want to study mechanical engineering so i was thinking of taking the physics and chemistry tests

I’ve not seen subject tests be part of an automatic merit aid formula (usually one test score, gpa, class rank).

No.

No

Firstly, merit scholarships for International students is very very rare.
Top, elite private schools with huge endowments give FA to a small % (<2), of internationals, and State universities do not have the budget for that.

Scoring well on Subject Tests shows you have a good understanding of those subjects, that’s it!
It may help with admission, but SAT Subject scores are not specifically tied to Merit scholarships.

There are a few state universities that give Merit scholarships to internationals, but are very competitive and holistic (check NC state’s Park Scholarship)
