I have a friend with 3.6unweighted 4.8weighted, 800math an 650cr score.
several ap's. Also he's a junior.
Will he get in?

WEll, Caltech is RATHER harsh on test scores, and those don't seem to be a huge strong point. I would say no, unless this person has done something spectacular in mathematics or science outside of school, and demonstrates that the test scores are bogus measures of his/her potential.

There isn't nearly enough information here to say anything about your friend's chances.

And even if there was enough information, nobody would be able to say for sure.

That's a very good point, but one that tends to fall on deaf ears. I've been trumpeting it for forever (except, you know, way back when when I asked for MY chances... hahaha). The only case where it's really helpful is in the few instances where it is obvious a student's chance is so slim that they are most likely wasting their money--but this is obvious from the fact that their SAT scores are almost always below our 25% score.

He went to many math competitions. (if it helps)

Well, I didnt score too well on SATs(730 math, 660 cr).
and I still got in :)
