Will highschool GPA matter for graduate admissions ?

Hello everyone !

Am from India. My class 10 and class 12 marks were not good.
Am pursuing Computer Science Engineering now at a decent college in India.

My question is , if I have a good undergrad GPA and good GRE and TOEFL scores , and good research work with me , will my high school marks like class 10th and 12th matter for admission into graduate courses at universities in US ?

Say I want to get into places like MIT/Caltech/Yale/Harvard/UCLA and other colleges , do I stand a chance ?

Or do they ask/consider my high school / class 10 / class 12 grades too ?

Am kinda depressed that I might not stand any chance. I had alot of problems during school and could not perform well. But now in college , am doing very well and have perfect scores.

Please help me. Thanks so much !

They look at high school grades for undergrad admission. There’s no way they would go back four years or more to look at high school grades for grad school admissions. They would look at your college GPA.

Your high school record is not considered for admission to graduate school except to provide proof that you actually completed high school.

No, they do not ask for your grades in high school. They will ask for the name of the high school and whether you graduated and in what year. That’s it.

Once you start college, you are given a completely new slate.
