Hello! I was accepted for fall 2019 to U of M to LSA and also offered the preferred admission option to the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning. I don’t think that I will be going the architecture route (I’m not interested in doing so much CAD and computer modeling work in my career). I have been interested in the Communication Studies degree in a more advertising/marketing pathway rather than journalism/mass media- will I be able to find a well-paying position with this major after college? I don’t know how highly ranked this program at UMich is. I would probably apply for the Business minor from Ross as well.
Additionally- I always hear that Communication Studies is an “easier” major and I’m wondering if that additionally makes it less qualifying of a major after college.

Getting a minor at Ross is not automatic and very competitive.
Talk to an academic advisor about your change of plans and find out directly what you need to do. Seems like your essentially transferring to another school within Michigan. You need to do this correctly, they will help.
I am not entirely sure what the question is asking. Are your chances for a lucrative career with a Comms degree from Michigan better than from almost any other university? I would say so.
Journalism is dying and I would encourage you to select a different major. Look at the school of information.
@TooOld4School. That’s a great suggestion.
