Will I get credits for AP exams unrelated to my major?

I'm confused. If I take an AP exam which is not a requirement for my major, will it still count towards my graduation credits?

Yes. Depending on how you score, you will receive elective credit that will count toward your 120 required credits for graduation. You may also get out of a prerequisite for your major. A four or five on AP Bio will get you out of Bio 171/172, a four or five on AP Calc BC will get you out of Math 115, etc. Both of those classes are prerequisites for many science concentrations.

They may count as electives. However, you need to be very careful. If you have accumulated too many credits, you may start paying the higher tuition from sophomore year.

A lot of it depends on the class. There is a chart on-line that will tell you what you get. For example, AP US History gets you 4 elective credits that is good for nothing but the 120 to graduate. AP US Govt gets you 4 credits for POLSCI 111 which is good for everything but distribution credit. AP Calc AB gives you 2 credits of math that becomes an extra 2 if you take Math 116. If you take Math 115 you lose the credit.
