WILL I GET INTO ANY OF THESE SCHOOLS EXETER/ANDOVER ETC

Hey my name is … I am a 14 year old in 9th grade. I am from Uzbekistan and Afghanistan and i have brown skin. I was just wondering if i would be able to somehow even with a small chance get into any of these schools. I am a 9th grade student and i have quite the story. I live in abu dhabi and go to a pretty decent school. However before this i went to a really crappy school where it was crap. So naturally it was pretty hard for me to adjust when i first came to this school. Which pushed me into not wanting to try and left me feeling different because everyone else has learned so much. For 6th and 7th grade it went on like this with pretty low grades. However in Grade 8 something changed. I felt like this was the year where I will finally make something for myself. I was originally placed into my normal math class instead of extended. However after persuading my principal, non extended teacher and extended teacher (I have always been a good speaker since it runs in the family) to give me a go. When I entered the class i exponentially began to rise to the top of the class. I graduated receiving an award that states i have graduated in the top 5 of the school and improved the most. But basically that was just to set the scene of what i am like here are some of the achievements i have accomplished or somethings i like to do

  • Award for improved or the one i just mentioned
  • I used to play piano, violin and saxophone
  • In extended Math
  • Made honor roll last year
  • Got a presidential award
  • great relationships with my teachers from middle school
  • Part of soccer team
  • Part of badminton team
  • Part of Track team
  • I have a huge interest in becoming a investment banker
  • I have been researching 2 scientific theories i have created and i believe that they could be true
  • I have been given the chance to go to third world countiesl to do service work
  • I have been helping teach young kids soccer
  • Have spent a day volunteering at red cross
  • Tennis is a big sport for me
  • Started an investment club in school
  • IN habitat for humanity club
  • Many other clubs

I have a bit more stuff but this is the basics

I also am a very great speaker and plan to show them how good i can be but can you let me know if ill be allowed to talk to them about stuff i like for example the theories i made and other stuff.

Oh yeah and these are the schools

EXETER
ANDOVER
LAWRENCEVILLE
GROTON
DEERFIELD

please be honest with me guys i will really appreciate it and i want the hard truth because thats always the best things.

Also if you can, please answer these questions

  • Will it help if I'm uzbek
  • Is it bad if i have a Skype interview
  • how do you know if you get rejected
  • how do you know if you get accepted

Being from Uzbekistan will certainly help. However the biggest determinant of whether you will get in or not depends on if you need financial aid and your SSAT scores. Andover is the only school from your list that is need blind.

I myself am applying to a few of these schools, and can’t give you the opinion of an alum or admissions officer, but I can give you a few tips and answers. Also, some of this is advice from an alum that I’m just paraphrasing to you (if you want to read my thread, go ahead).

One thing the alum told me is that while it’s great to have so many interests like you do, they also really value DEPTH of interest.

So you play multiple sports, and it’s fine to say you do, but focusing on tennis (since you said it was a “big sport” for you) might be a good idea. Same with clubs, maybe talk more about the one or two you’re the most passionate about.

Also, the scientific theories really catch my eye. Those could be great essay topics, and your interviewers will love to talk about them, so bring it up in the conversation!

These schools also want to admit students who will take advantage of the unique opportunities they offer. Do you want to take up an instrument again, participate in plays, learn Japanese, or something else? Keep that in mind.

Your awards and grades look great, that’s also something you want to mention in your interview/application.

Here are my answers to your questions:

-Uzbek: Definitely helps. It’s something that not many other students will be, and they want diversity.

-Skype interview: It is not bad. And I caution you to not take it lightly. They use the interview to see who you are as a person and what you’re passionate about, along with the essays. Don’t list off hobbies, you can do that in the application. Focus on your main passions, because you do have limited time. And if you’re excited, the interviewer is, too!

-Rejected/accepted: Results are emailed to all applicants on the same day. (Same for the specific school - you won’t, however be notified by all schools on the same day.)

I really recommend you look at the schools’ websites in depth. They give lots of information, and it’s good to know specific things about each of the schools during the application process. I also agree with the person who said you SSAT scores contribute heavily. Maybe grab an SSAT test prep book?

I wish you luck with your applications! Let me know if I missed something, need to elaborate, or if something seems wrong. I am human xD

You have a great chance , I suggest you have an interview at the school .
