Will I get into at least one of these boarding schools?

Hello, I am an international 9th grader. The deadline for 10th grade has passed, so I’m going to repeat 10th grade instead of applying for 11th grade (I heard the competition for 11th is very high).
I will be applying to about 6 or 7 schools (Choate, Hockaday, Lawrenceville, Blair, Taft, Thacher, Deerfield, Milton…).
My middle school grades were very good - I did not do as well in 6th grade (a lot of B’s and C’s) but I improved rapidly in 7th and 8th grade. I received all A+'s in every single subject all throughout 7th and 8th. My freshmen year GPA was a 3.8~3.9.
My extracurriculars are:

  • Flute for 5 years, alto sax for 1 year
  • Part of the school band for 5 years
  • 3 years of MS girls soccer team, all-star girls soccer team in 8th grade, varsity girl’s soccer team in freshmen year
  • I played kendo for 4 years
  • My narrative essay was chosen to be published in a school creative writing book

I have a speech disorder, in which I stammer when I speak. I feel as if my disorder will be a flaw when having my interviews.
Will I be able to get accepted?

I don’t think at all that your speech disorder will be trouble for you during your interview. Most, if not all schools, welcome all students. Where you “may” have trouble is the fact that you are an international student and it seems spots for international students are high sought and most especially if you are from China or South Korea. Best of luck!

The best way to find out is really to just apply and see for yourself. Every school’s admissions process is a little different. That being said, your resume certainly looks good, and most of the schools you mentioned not only accept, but strongly support individuals with disorders. I myself am a student at Blair (11th grade in September) and I strongly suggest you go for it.
