also,
i had a meeting with an academic adviser from the electrical eng. dept. at uiuc and she asked for my act math sub and as soon as i said 35 she said "oh youre in". i told her my gpa was low and she said if i just write good essays ill get in. any thoughts on that? is she just trying to get me to apply?

How do you get an unweighted GPA of 4.58? I believe the max for an unweighted GPA would be 4.0. Wouldn’t the max for a weighted GPA be a 5.0? How do you get a 5.08 weighted?

my school gives a 5 for an A, 4 for B, and so on. so i guess my unweighted could also be 3.58, and my weighted could be 4.58.

based on the information you gave, i think that you’ve got a pretty good chance at most of the colleges on your list; your act scores are definitely good for most of the schools there as well. also, definitely send your math level ii score, although that’s pretty obvious.

university of illinois at urbana-champaign: match
purdue: safety/low match
case western reserve: no idea haha…
cornell university: reach (for everybody)
university of michigan: match; your test scores are about 75%.
carnegie mellon: low reach
georgia tech: high match
illinois institute of tech: no idea…
northwestern: mid reach
notre dame: mid reach
rice: low reach

While your UW GPA being 3.58 isn’t fantastic, you show up strongly in areas that EE focuses on (mathematics mainly). Your ACT is pretty good, and your 800 Math II will help you out loads. I can chance for the publics that factor in mainly scores/grades, but the privates focus more on essays and ECs and thus I can’t do those.

UIUC: Match
Purude: Match
Case Western Reserve: Match considering you’re not applying for BME.
Cornell: Selective Private, Cannot Chance
UM: Match
CMU: Reach
GT: Match
IIT: Safety
NU: Selective Private, Cannot Chance
ND: Reach
Rice: Selective Private, Cannot Chance
