Will I get into UChicago, etc.?

Hey guys, this is my first post ever so please tell me if I'm doing anything wrong or posting in the wrong place.

Anyways, I just tried posting this and somehow it disappeared so now I'm writing this all AGAIN. lol. My life.

So UChicago will be my first choice next fall followed by (in no particular order) William and Mary, Vassar, George Washington U, and others that i'm pretty confident i'll be accepted too.

Anywho, here are my stats. I don't really have a normal resume, and it's not necessarily a good thing I believe...

2011 grad
MALE: Asian/European

School: Private, Very Small, Very Competitive

GPA: 3.91 UW

Since my school is so competitive and I do so many ec's that take me out of school I rank 6/24 as of now... which seems even worse when looking at it percentage wise :(, but my counselor will make a note about this in her rec. i believe.

SAT I: 1400 M/CR combined
ACT: 32

I've taken the hardest classes that my school has to offer with 2 AP's,1 Honors, and 2 more AP's next year. (I'm telling you, my school is so weird! I dont know why they dont offer more AP's since its so competitive anyways!)

NHS: 3 years
Student Council: Freshman Class President. Student Body Treasurer
On PLT this coming year
Small Group leader- 2 years

100+ community service hours
Helped teach middle school debate
Peer tutor all throughout high school

Piano- 8 Years, somewhat competitive, was the pianist for 2009 fall melodrama at school.

Academic All-American (debate related)

I've had roughly 33 debate awards thus far in my high school career with around 30 being varsity awards. All have been state wide tournaments public and private, and are 1st-3rd place awards in pf and extemp. Some include national tournaments as well as qualifiers to the NFL national tournament. I have back to back state tournament championships etc.

Varsity Letters in Debate all 4 years, Baseball all 4 years, and Golf 3 years. Debate and Golf teams are top 2 in state and i've received awards in golf 2 consecutive years.

I've also been on a Bell choir for 3 years that travels around the state during the winter and takes a week during the spring to tour the midwest, going to mainly needy schools and indian reservations.

History Award

Some work experience

Recs will be great

I know essays are a very important to UChicago, and I think my quirky debate style will help me writing them

Anyways, that's it, hope you guys can help, and i'll happily answer any questions that can help for a more accurate answer! Thanks!

Technically this should be in the “What are my chances?” forum, but its not a big deal, as it is your first time here. Not an expert about UChicago in anyway, but from what I know, your SATs are a bit low so I would reccomend just submitting your ACT which is fine. The one thing I would say is that you lack a little in volunteer work, but thats not always necessary. ECs in your prospective area of major are always a good plan as well, so maybe include that, although I have a feeling that debate will relate to it, as most debaters I know want to do something related to debate atleast somewhat.

yes, may major will probably be debate related, and i’ll possibly integrate debate somewhere in the essays. As far as volunteer work, i have to double check whats considered “volunteer work” (like if we are volunteering during a school activity/ the school activity requires volunteering) which may boost the numbers a bit.
