Hooks: Legacy
Just out of interest… How will UChicago view an applicant who is skipping a grade?
What are my chances and how do you suggest I improve?
Your chances I think are good but Chicago’s admissions landscape changes so drastically that who really knows? I will say that your SAT is a bit low for Chicago, try getting reading up into the 700s. Legacy counts but not as much as it would at other schools so keep that in mind.
How to improve: Retake the SAT, write great essays, and choose your recommenders wisely.
Most likely outcome is wait list
You need to retake the SAT or try the ACT. Besides that, your application is ok but not great - not enough to eliminate you but not enough to get you in. Write killer essays, they’ll help.
I don’t think there’s any benefit at all to skipping a year of high school. Enjoy free education and a low pressure environment while you can. I don’t know how it affects your chances in general, but the students who did it at my high school did not get into any top schools.
