Will I Have to Take a Gap Year?

Maybe it's just the nervousness of the date getting closer...but I'm seriously considering taking a gap year because I've realized that I probably won't get into the schools I applied to (or at least not to the ones I really want to go to). I know no one really knows, but I need some thoughts from someone other than my friends, who say I'll get in everywhere, and my mom, who...well, let's say she isn't quite so positive.

location: upstate NY
white, middle class, female
attend competitive public school
GPA (UW): 3.75 9th-11th grade; 3.5 2nd semester 12th (whoops! but taking more hard classes)
decile: 2nd
SAT: 2nd take 2220 (740 V/680M/800W) (1st take 2120 (740V/650M/730W))
SATIIs: USH 800, WH 700, FR 690
APs: USH 5, Stats 5, currently French, English Language, Human Geography
ECs: class officer (VP 12th + 11th, P 10th), student council member (10th-12th), school musical(9th-12th), voice lessons(9th-12th), varsity crew team (9th-11th), volunteer at public library (9th-12th), public library teen group (10th-12th), school lecture committee (11th-12th), work at ice cream store (11th-12th very part time)
Summer stuff: course at Ithaca College (A in Intro to Musical Theater w/ 3 college credits), exchange with French family, work (~30hrs/week)

Schools:
American University
Brown University (applied ED and was deferred)
Claremont McKenna College
Cornell University
New York University
University of Pennsylvania
Scripps College
College of William and Mary

Any thoughts would be hugely appreciated. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this!:-)

(okay, I realized that made me sound awful, “will I HAVE to take a gap year?” I know it could be an amazing experience…I just want to make the choice on my own instead of the schools making it for me!)

Definitely in at AU, probably in at William and Mary, Scripps, and Claremont McKenna, and the rest are reaches.

The others should be fine but these are alot more less forgiving when a 3.5 shows up.

Brown University =Reach(applied ED and was deferred)
Cornell University=Reach
New York University=High Target
University of Pennsylvania=Reach

Yeah I didn’t expect the 3.5, it kinda screwed me over didn’t it? Well it’s too late now to do much about it… I have no idea how to weight my grades - my Bs are in my hardest classes (AP Lang, AP French, Philosophy), but colleges really can’t know which ones are the hardest.
You guys have said pretty much what I’m thinking - except I think I’ll get into Cornell because I’m legacy and my mom works there and I live in Ithaca (it’s WAY easier to get in if you’re from Ithaca. which isn’t fair to other people but it’s nice for me I guess)

any more thoughts anyone? sorry to be just another annoying chances thread. but i’m going kinda crazy here :stuck_out_tongue:
:-)
