Hey Everyone,
Now since NYU Is my main/ dream option, I wanted to ask- will I miss the Campus experience if I was to go to NYU?
Or is the Campus experience something that is worth it, and is something essential to every student?

I have many friends and close family members who are NYU alumni. All – no exceptions – believed they missed quintessential campus experiences; however, most felt their in-depth Manhattan exposure more than compensated for this deficiency (perhaps 25 percent did not agree). Possibly, a good way to make this important judgement is to assess just how important a typical on-campus collegiate life is to you.

It is a personal choice and there is no right or wrong answer. My S was turned off by NYU when we visited and realized that he wanted a more traditional campus experience. However, he had two friends who were happy at NYU.

I have never seen the NYU campus in person, but I know that NYU is a large school. You’d have many classmates that are living in the same situation. You’d have some type of college experience, but it just might not be the traditional campus experience with a “quad” and all that.

However, I’d say the social college experience is more important than the actual geography of the campus. I imagine that NYU is still rather social, as it is such a large university.

If a “traditional” or “stereotypical” college experience is what you’re after, then an urban campus probably won’t be a good fit for you. However, if you just want a college experience, then there are still great things to be had from an urban campus.

I can’t speak for NYU, but GW is also an urban campus with hardly any greenery and a lack of physical walls bounding the grounds. GW was great because of accessibility to the city, proximity to food, night life, entertainment, internships, and young professionals- all of these should be the same for NYU.
